Authentic and Delicious Beetroot Pickle Malabar Style

Hey everyone! If you love traditional Malabar feasts and special celebrations, you already know that a vibrant, tasty side dish always steals the show. Today, I am sharing one of my all-time favorites—a traditional beetroot pickle malabar style. Growing up in a Malabar family, this is a taste I have loved since childhood. Whenever my mother makes this special pickle, it instantly becomes the star of our dining table!

A Nostalgic Taste from Mom’s Kitchen

All the authentic recipes on my channel, Thanshik World, are rooted in my mother’s kitchen secrets. My mother makes this mouth-watering pickle using the exact traditional techniques. Back when I was in college, packing lunch boxes was a daily routine, and whenever this special beetroot pickle malabar style was in my box, my friends would literally fight and compete just to grab a piece! That is how irresistible this flavor is.If you have Malabar friends or have ever attended a traditional feast in northern Kerala, you might have already tasted this incredible accompaniment. However, making it at home with the exact balance of spices, zero oil, and natural sweetness is a completely different experience. Once you serve this unique beetroot pickle malabar style to your family or guests, be ready for everyone to ask you for the secret recipe! Even if you have tried various versions of beetroot pickles from different channels or cookbooks, I strongly recommend trying this exact traditional method following our precise measurements. The texture, the rich color, and the burst of flavors will genuinely amaze you.

The Perfect Match for Biryani & Sadya

Unlike regular oily pickles, the best highlight of this recipe is that it is made with almost zero oil. Because it has a mild sweetness, it pairs exceptionally well with rich dishes like Malabar Chicken or Mutton Biryani. At the same time, it is wonderful to include in a grand Kerala Sadya—it adds a gorgeous color and unique taste to the spread. Whether you want to eat it with your daily afternoon rice or for a weekend feast, it is light on the stomach and anyone can enjoy it without any worries. If you love trying out unique and different types of pickles, you should definitely check out another exciting recipe on our website—the Green Grape Pickle. It is a wonderful, tangy treat that pairs amazingly well with rice and meals, just like this beetroot pickle. Do give it a try and expand your collection of homemade pickles!

Simple Ingredients and Health Benefits

The main star here is beetroot, which is packed with great nutrients and vitamins. If you want to know more about the health benefits of this wonderful root vegetable, you can check out the Beetroot page on Wikipedia.

In our house, instead of white sugar, mom often uses natural sweeteners like dates to bring out that signature Malabar sweetness. Boiling the beetroots properly helps them absorb all the spices deeply, making the pickle super yummier. Because it uses minimal oil and wholesome ingredients, it is a very healthy option for your daily meals.
